It's Past Time For America To Overcome It's Addition To Oil!!!

Hello Everyone!!!

I wanted to touch base with you today
like I mentioned yesterday in my other blog post I just filled up at the local gas station and paid $3.35 per gallon for unleaded regular.
Here in Albany Georgia Gas was $3.05 on Tuesday $3.35 yesterday and Friday I seen it’s at $3.49
Gas prices are outrageous and they are projected to go over $5 a gallon soon. What are everyday people going to do???

If political unrest in Libya spreads to other oil-rich countries and the ensuing chaos disrupts crude oil production, gas prices could hit $5 a gallon by peak summer driving season, industry analysts say.

When will we as Americans overcome our addition to Oil (gas)? This an addition that goes all the way back to the Carter Administration in the 70’s. To the time when we had people lining up at the pumps to buy gas. At that time President Carter tried to make us realizes how serious an addition we had. Now year later we all need to be in some type of rehab to overcome this addition.
Everyday as I drive around this city as well as other places I do not see people trying to break their addition. I still see many buying large SUV’s which they drive each and everyday. This only adds to the demand for more oil and oil products. The oil rich countries in the Middle East are our drug suppliers and feed our needs at the price which they control. I have also notice that many Americans do a great deal of unnecessary driving. Needless driving that is for no real purpose-just joy ridding. When will we ever come to our senses and realize that we are driving ourselves down a big deep black hole that has no bottom.
President Obama has put in place several plans that will eventually cut some of our addition but it is going to take years for these programs to have a lasting effect on our long standing addition to oil. I am taking about his Green Energy Programs. He is proposing spending 3.6 trillions over the next 10 years toward Green energy programs. You can read about at this link:

That is only part of it. The American people must do their part now to help curve our additions to Oil. In an article by Craig Severance , he discusses some of these issues:

It is us!
The lion's share of oil use in the U.S. is for transportation, and the lion's share of that is just to move ourselves around. The oil used for cars, pickups, and SUV's is for moving people. Komanoff found that 85 percent of the oil used for air travel was also for people, as opposed to air freight. All told, therefore, about 70 percent of transportation oil use (not counting the heavy pickups over 8,500 GVW included in the "medium to heavy trucks" category) is our use of vehicles to move our bodies from one place to another. That's almost half of total U.S. oil use. It really is us.
Good news and bad news
That's good news and bad news. The bad news is that it's personal -- we have to change what we drive.
The good news is that it's possible. It really doesn't take a Hummer or F250 to move people around. We all know someone with a Prius who gets 50 mpg and loves their car. That's about twice the average fuel economy of the U.S. passenger car and light truck fleet today, just using existing technology.
Super-efficient cars coming
Later this year, and not a moment too soon, GM will introduce its new Plug-In Hybrid Chevy Volt, and Nissan will begin delivering its all-electric car the Leaf. European automakers have also begun marketing efficient diesels to the American market. The sampling below shows a little of what is happening:

No doubt about it if we are to survive in the 21st century we are going have to overcome our addition to gas and oil. If not life as we know it will never be the same again. God only knows if we will be able to make it through.
